Lowell CDC believes that Lowell is an asset rich community. Our staff and board believe that the community has the power and the resources to create the most positive change.
Executive Director: Esther Carver
Esther has lived and worked in the Lowell Neighborhood since 2007. Esther grew up on her family’s cattle ranch in the southern- Sierra Nevada Mountains but was transplanted to Fresno to attend Fresno Pacific University where she earned her degree in Intercultural Studies. Esther is alumni of the Pink House internship (2009) and the DeVos Urban Leadership Initiative (2014). Before her role as the first Executive Director for the Lowell CDC, Esther worked for Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission and Youth for Christ. Esther has been actively involved in her community using her passions to bring about positive change. She helped plan and start the community garden along with other residents and is always up for planning a party to celebrate people and achievements.
Esther lives in Lowell with her 3 kids and enjoyed photography, riding her motorcycle and hiking in the mountains.
Esther creció en las estribaciones de las montañas Sierra Nevada en el rancho ganadero de su familia. Se mudó a Fresno en 2004 para asistir a la Universidad de Fresno Pacific, donde obtuvo su título en Estudios Interculturales. Esther se mudó en el vecindario de Lowell en 2007 y ahora cría a sus tres hijos allí. Completó el puesto de interno del programa Pink House en 2009 y comenzó a trabajar a tiempo completo para Youth for Christ. Esther dirigió el programa City Life durante tres años al servicio de jóvenes y familias que viven en el vecindario de Lowell. Esther también ayudó a planificar e iniciar el Jardín Comunitario Lowell y disfruta pasar tiempo conociendo vecinos y compartiendo verduras. Esther tiene una pasión grande hacia su comunidad, el centro de la ciudad de Fresno, y está entusiasmada de representar a Lowell CDC. Ella ha tenido una parte activa en la colaboración con muchas organizaciones comunitarias e iglesias para servir a la comunidad con eventos especiales que incluyen ferias de salud, fiestas de vecindarios, sorteos de regalos navideños, campamentos juveniles de verano, fiestas de días festivos y renovaciones de casas.
Como la primera Directora Ejecutiva de Lowell CDC desde el comienzo de la organización en 2011, Esther proporcionará liderazgo y dirección a la organización y a su personal de trabajo. Esther será fundamental para promover la misión de la organización de mejorar la calidad de vida en el vecindario de Lowell de una manera que se dedicará a la diversidad económica, animar a las empresas en estar entusiasmados por invertir, honrar la historia del área y crear una comunidad próspera para las familias.

Samai Munoz-Bello // Resident and Community Engagement Coordinator
Samai was born in Mexico, however, she has spent the majority of her life residing in Fresno. She holds a degree from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks where she majored in Foreign Languages and Literatures with a focus on French and Spanish. Her experiences living in Alaska and France have contributed to her diverse cultural background.
Upon returning to Fresno in 2016, Samai began substitute teaching and eventually transitioned to a full-time teaching role while concurrently earning her specialized education teaching credential from California State University, Fresno. With her deep connections to the local community, Samai considers Fresno her permanent home and is committed to nurturing her relationships with residents.
Samai is an enthusiastic educator with a passion for teaching, and she aspires to remain involved in the education field. She has a strong interest in mental health, reading, and exploring various regions of Mexico. Additionally, she enjoys hiking and discovering new state and national parks in California primarily but everywhere else too.
Samai is determined to deepen her love for Fresno, promoting the citys’ many virtues, and contributing to the community’s positive growth.
Samai nació en México, sin embargo, ha pasado la mayor parte de su vida viviendo en Fresno. Tiene un título de la Universidad de Alaska, Fairbanks, donde se especializó en Idiomas y Literaturas Extranjeras con un enfoque en francés y español. Sus experiencias viviendo en Alaska y Francia han contribuido a su diversa experiencia cultural.
Al regresar a Fresno en el 2016, Samai comenzó siendo maestra sustituta y finalmente, hizo la transición a un rol de maestra de tiempo completo mientras obtenía simultáneamente su credencial en educación especial de la Universidad Estatal de California, Fresno. A través de las conexiones con su comunidad local, Samai considera a Fresno su hogar permanente y se compromete a fomentar sus relaciones con los residentes.
Samai es una educadora entusiasta con pasión por la educación, y aspira a permanecer involucrada en el campo de la educación. Tiene un gran interés en la salud mental, la lectura y la exploración de varias regiones de México. Además, le gusta el senderismo y descubrir nuevos parques estatales y nacionales en California primordialmente pero por todos lados también.
Samai está dispuesta a profundizar su amor por Fresno, promoviendo las muchas virtudes de la ciudad y contribuyendo al crecimiento positivo de la comunidad.
